University of St. Thomas Law Alumna Courtney N. Moran Honored With Lifetime Achievement Award and Recognized for Industry Leadership

Oregon State Bar Lifetime Achievement Award 

We are proud to share that Courtney N. Moran, LL.M., founding principal of EARTH Law, LLC, was recently honored by her alma mater, the University of St. Thomas School of Law, as part of a feature recognizing alumni who have received prestigious awards and leadership appointments within their professional communities.

Courtney, who earned her J.D. from St. Thomas in 2011, was selected as the second-ever recipient of the Leland R. Berger Lifetime Achievement Award by the Oregon State Bar Cannabis and Psychedelics Law Section. This recognition celebrates her long-standing and impactful contributions to shaping cannabis and hemp law at both the state and federal levels.

Courtney has played a key role in advancing pro-hemp legislation nationwide, co-authoring and lobbying for several successful bills, and guiding the establishment of hemp production programs in four states. From 2015 to 2023, she served as President of the Oregon Industrial Hemp Farmers Association, and she continues to lend her expertise through board service to leading organizations, including the National Hemp Association and Oregon State University’s Global Hemp Innovation Center.

In 2022, Courtney broke new ground by joining the Lewis & Clark Law School faculty to teach the nation’s first Hemp Law & Policy course. Through EARTH Law, LLC, based in Portland, Oregon, she continues to provide legal counsel and policy strategy to clients operating in the agriculture, hemp, and psychedelics industries.
