The Oregon Department of Agriculture (ODA) is seeking public input on proposed rules that would allow a co-location of commercial and research hemp operations. This change could streamline operations for hemp growers and researchers, increase innovation, and enhance compliance monitoring by simplifying logistics for dual-purpose sites.
If you work in Oregon’s hemp industry, are involved in agricultural research, or simply want to weigh in on how hemp is regulated in our state, now is your chance to have your voice heard.
Under current regulations, commercial hemp production and research hemp programs are required to operate separately. The new proposed rules would permit co-location, meaning both activities could legally take place on the same premises, potentially under a single registration, easing burdens and promoting better collaboration between research and production.
