Proposed Rules for Psilocybin in Oregon: Public Comment Period Now Open!

The October 2024 Public Comment Period for Oregon Psilocybin Services (OPS) proposed rules is now open. OPS will accept comments on the proposed rules from October 1 - October 21, 2024 (closing at 5:00 p.m. Pacific Time).


During the public comment period, you can provide your comments in writing and by emailing: publichealth.rules@odhsoha.oregon.gov, or by participating in one of three virtual public hearings:

Proposed Rules and History

OPS is proposing to permanently amend administrative rules in chapter 333, division 333. The proposed rules implement ORS chapter 475A, the Oregon Psilocybin Services Act, and are related to requirements for data collection, training programs and licensed psilocybin facilitators, and other requirements related to licensed premises and provision of psilocybin services.

Proposed Rules Include (but are not limited to):

  • Requirements for data collection and reporting

    • Requires licensed psilocybin service centers to collect certain data and report aggregated data to OHA on a quarterly basis

    • Contains provisions that allow clients to request their data not be submitted to OHA

  • Requirements related to licensed premises and provision of psilocybin services

    • New requirements for facilitators and service centers to describe culturally and linguistically responsive services in order to increase access and mitigate risks to client and public safety

  • Approval process and curriculum requirements for psilocybin training programs

    • Requires practicum at a licensed service center

    • Modifies curriculum requirements for training programs

    • Requires continuing education for licensed facilitators


Who is welcome?
