In a surprising announcement, Craig Prins, Executive Director of the Oregon Liquor and Cannabis Commission (OLCC), has announced his retirement, effective July 1, 2025. His departure marks a significant leadership shift at a time of major regulatory changes within the hemp and cannabis industries.

Following Prins' announcement, the OLCC Commissioners voted to appoint Tara Wasiak as the agency’s new Executive Director. Wasiak has served as OLCC Deputy Director since November 2023 and brings extensive public sector experience to the role. Prior to joining the agency, she served as Interim Director of the Portland Bureau of Transportation.

Wasiak will officially assume her new role on July 1, leading the agency through a crucial regulatory transition, including the implementation of new hemp product registration rules under House Bill 4121.

Stay tuned for more updates on OLCC leadership and what this change could mean for Oregon's regulated cannabis and hemp industries.
