The Oregon Department of Agriculture (ODA) is requesting public comment on a set of proposed rules regarding the agency's hemp program.
Filed August 30th, ODA has released a notice of proposed rulemaking to update rules for Oregon's hemp program, including changes to allow for hemp microgreens, updating licensing and reporting requirements, and repealing the program's language on county moratoriums and emergency declarations. The summary of the proposed rule changes is as follows:
The department proposes to adopt these rules to clarify existing hemp program rules, add additional options for hemp growers including trimming under specific circumstances as well as market options like microgreens, and create additional flexibility for those who miss the grower license application deadline. Additionally, the rules need to be cleaned up to reflect sunset dates of several statutes.
Complete changes to the hemp program's rules may be found here. Comments can be submitted during the virtual hearing on October 10, 2023 from 9:30-11:00 am. You can also submit comments in writing by 5 pm on October 13, 2023.
