The Oregon Department of Agriculture (ODA) testing season is just around the corner — now’s the time to check your compliance. Here are a few key reminders to help keep your operation fully compliant:
Use an ORELAP-Accredited Lab
All sampling and testing must be done through an ORELAP-accredited lab.
For Growers
Each strain of hemp must be tested for total THC before harvest.
With an approved LUCS, you may trim flower on your registered grow site.
Harvest lots must be in 50-pound batches and tested under OAR 603-048-2320 & 333-007-0320.
Producing kief? It requires special testing (OAR 603-048-2330 & 333-007-0330).
For Handlers
All hemp items must be tested under OAR 845-025.
Full compliance testing is required (OAR 603-048-2320 to 2350).
The entire batch must be sampled by the lab — no cherry-picking!
R&D or quality control tests do not satisfy compliance requirements.
Products for human ingestion must be made in a facility licensed by the ODA Food Safety Program (ORS 616.695–616.755).
You can’t sell or transfer hemp for human consumption unless it passes compliance testing (OAR 603-048-2300). That means each analyte must be a ✅, and your COA must show ≤ 0.3% total THC.
